The Highland - Palestine coordinating group meets once a week to determine how best to use donations.
We make a clear distinction between money raised for aid and money donated to cover the small costs of Highland - Palestine's campaigning activity, such as printing, hire of rooms and so on. No money donated for the purposes of aid can be used for Highland - Palestine campaigning.
Highland - Palestine has direct links with several families living in Gaza and regularly transfers money directly to them. These are families and individuals known to people living in our community.
All money donated to them is used directly by them for food, clothing, accommodation and other basic necessities.
“The donations are sent to members of my direct and extended family. That’s 27 people, including 16 children under the age of 16 years-old and one disabled pensioner who’s in need of full-time support with everything (feeding, changing, medication, bathing, etc).
All have lost their homes and been displaced so many times, moving between different areas for safety, living in tents, school shelters or partly destroyed buildings. Every time they are displaced they have to leave their belongings, and as they can’t carry much since there’s no transportation available, they just carry the basics and run for safety. They have access to the bare minimum of water, food and other basic needs. They are suffering from starvation, dehydration and other diseases like (skin rashes, tummy bugs and diarrhoea).
They are completely dependant on the money I send them every month just to barely survive. Buying the very scarce food and water is so expensive; prices have skyrocketed due to Israel’s complete siege and the severe restrictions on the entry of aid.
I am very grateful and, for life indebted, for your ongoing generous donations , to help me keep them alive while waiting for any glimmer of hope, to escape/stop the genocide.”
Highland - Palestine keeps detailed records of all donations received and has processes in place to ensure all donations are distributed to the cause for which they were raised.
We are an entirely volunteer organisation and no one involved in Highland - Palestine's work receives any form of financial compensation for the work we do.
